Warner Robins Posts Positive Annual Jobs Numbers in July

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins posted very strong annual numbers for the month of July.
Preliminary numbers also showed Warner Robins unemployment rate fell for the month in the three-county metropolitan statistical area (MSA).
“July was another solid month for Georgia,” Butler said. “The state numbers were strong and many of our local communities added to their labor force, which was badly needed. Many areas of the state also increased the number of employed residents. Georgia continues to head in the right direction.”
Nationally, the unemployment rate was unchanged in July at 3.7 percent. Georgia’s rate dropped 0.1 percentage points to settle at 3.6 percent. A year ago, Georgia’s unemployment rate sat at 3.8 percent.
Rates fell across 12 of Georgia’s 14 MSAs.
The rate in Warner Robins decreased in July, dropping by 0.2 percentage points to settle at 3.7 percent. A year ago, the rate was 4.2 percent.
Warner Robins ended July with a total of 77,200 jobs. That’s a decrease of about 800 from last month’s job total. The job number has climbed by 1,800 over the past year.
The labor force decreased in July by 559 to reach 86,386. That number is up by 114 from July 2018’s total.
Warner Robins ended July with 83,208 employed residents. The number decreased by 355 in July but was up by 570 over last July’s total.
The number of unemployment claims were up by about 7 percent in July but were down by about 13 percent from the same period last year.
The MSA includes Houston, Peach and Pulaski counties.
