Professional Restroom Operator Magazine, referred to as PRO Magazine, highlighted Macon based A-OK Portables & Waste Services for community spirit in the August 2019 issue. Writer Jim Kneiszel wrote…”what better way to promote portable sanitation and other waste services than during an event celebrating a cleaner environment ?.” (https://www.promonthly.com/editorial/2019/08/painted-potties-andpromoting-portable-sanitation) A-OK joined forces with The City of Macon-Bibb and Mercer University to coordinate the first Paint a Potty Competition as part of Earth Day 2019.
A-OK Portables & Waste Services is a woman owned, local company providing solid & liquid waste disposal. It is the largest provider of portable sanitation in Middle Georgia. The need for sanitation started in the Garden of Eden, and evidence dating back to around 4000 BC show early efforts at human hygienic practices …”The Babylonians introduce clay sewer pipes, with the earliest examples found in the Temple of Bel at Nippur and at Eshnunna, Babylonia” according to The Timeline of Sanitation. https://timelines.issarice.com/wiki/Timeline_of_sanitation
More recently, portable sanitation has played a key role in emergency relief efforts. It also makes many large, outdoor events like music concerts possible. Complimenting the sanitation units are free standing hand wash stations and units designed specifically to meet ADA requirements. Technology has also played a role in the growth of this vitally important service, from the chemicals used by certified technicians when servicing the units to the software used in the office.
