Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Wednesday, August 21st, 2019
Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has approved the location and design of Project #0014895 for Bibb County, a project that would reconstruct a railroad bridge on Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue in Macon and also make minor adjustments to Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue and Roff Avenue to accommodate the bridge improvements. The design and location were approved on July 29, 2019.
The project is located in central Macon-Bibb County, within Land Lots 19 and 20.
The project proposes to raise the bridge on Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue to increase the vertical clearance over Norfolk Southern Railroad, and also to perform minor reconstruction of Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue and Roff Avenue to adjust for the new grade of the bridge.
The project would include a 2.9 mile temporary detour of Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue for a period of 30 days. Roff Avenue will be closed for a maximum of six months and traffic detoured to a 0.3 mile detour east of Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue and a 1.3 mile detour west of Georgia 247/Pio Nono Avenue.
Drawings or maps or plats of the proposed project, as approved, are on file and available for public inspection at the Georgia Department of Transportation:
