Rebuilding Macon Turns to Kings Park Neighborhood
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Monday, June 17th, 2019
From June 18th through June 21st, Rebuilding Macon will partner with Hope Mission to focus repair efforts in Kings Park Sub-division.
This is Hope Mission’s third year hosting Mission Macon. Participants will stay at Wesleyan College and enhance Rebuilding Macon’s volunteer efforts by providing over 200 volunteers who will focus on a single neighborhood of 300+ homes that are in desperate need of repair. From yard work to major construction projects - there is plenty of physical work that needs to be done. Rebuilding Macon is providing the leadership, construction materials, and community connections.
This initiative is made possible through local support. It is funded by the Peyton Anderson Foundation and boasts donations from Ogles Construction and L. E. Schwartz Roofing. Volunteers from the Macon-Bibb community will also be joining to help in Kings Park.
Kings Park is located in East Macon and has been reported as suffering from blight. However, in the summer of 2017, Macon-Bibb County began construction on a new community center within the neighborhood. Since completion, this center has served as a hub for the community and compliments their continued clean-up efforts. Rebuilding Macon is happy to support the residents on this journey by addressing home repairs for the elderly and disabled.
