Central Georgia Technical College signed an articulation agreement with Gordon State College (GSC) this week for the transfer of credit from the College’s newest General Studies associate degree into four-year bachelor degree programs at GSC, on campus or online.
“Central Georgia Technical College has always been a higher education beacon in this part of the state,” said Gordon State College President Dr. Kirk A. Nooks. “This articulation demonstrates that students can complete their academic journey locally and maintain their commitment to developing the talent base within the region.”
Leadership from each institution’s Academic Affairs divisions actively pursued this agreement, the first between the two institutions. Each institution is calling the agreement an active educational partnership in providing educational opportunities for students of both institutions.
“CGTC is focused on providing students with as many educational paths as possible to help them reach their goals,” said Dr. Ivan H. Allen, president of CGTC. Partnering with Gordon State College for articulation of our new AS in General Studies is a win for our students and our local communities. Gordon State is a stellar institution and we know that by signing this agreement for seamless transfer, we can greatly increase access and provide extremely affordable options for students interested in ultimately obtaining a four-year credential.”
Beginning fall semester 2019, CGTC will offer its newest associate degree in General Studies. Students who complete the General Studies program and meet Gordon State admissions requirements can apply to eligible bachelor’s degree programs.
Under the agreement, eligible students may pursue a bachelor’s degree from Gordon State in one of the following areas; Human Services, Health Information Management, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Management and Administration.
