Warner Robins Sets Jobs Record in April

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins set in April another record for jobs.

Meanwhile, Warner Robins posted positive annual numbers for most major indicators, according to preliminary numbers.  The unemployment rate fell in April for the three-county metropolitan statistical area (MSA).

“Georgia’s economy continues to be strong,” Butler said, “In April we saw several communities set records for jobs and others set records for lowest unemployment rate. Typically, we see gains through the summer as well.”

Overall, Warner Robins ended April with a record total of 77,600 jobs. That’s an increase of about 1,500 from the job total as of a year ago and it’s up 600 from last month’s total.

The unemployment rate fell in April, dropping by 0.5 percentage points to settle at 3.2 percent. A year ago, the rate was 3.7 percent.

Nationally, the rate for April dropped to 3.6 percent.

The labor force decreased in April by 305 to reach 86,051. That number is down by 234 from April 2018’s total.

Warner Robins ended April with 83,316 employed residents.  The number climbed by 161 in April and was up by 248 over last April’s total.

Unemployment claims rose in April by 45 percent and were down by 61 percent from the same period last year.    

The MSA includes Houston, Peach and Pulaski counties.
