The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Division of Federal Programs has announced that Sonny Carter Elementary School is one of two Title I schools in Georgia to be recognized as a 2020 National ESEA Distinguished School. Carter Elementary will be presented with the award at the 2020 National ESEA Conference, held February 2-7 in Atlanta.

“We are proud of your District’s accomplishments and the exemplary work of your school staff,” said State Schools Superintendent Richard Woods.

This national designation is based on achievement data. Carter Elementary was one of two District schools to be named Title I Distinguished Schools at the state level last fall for scoring in the top 5 percent of the state in the 2018 College and Career Ready Performance Index.
