Wesleyan College Student Wins National Graduate Fellowship

Dr. Sharon Emerson-Stonnell, National President of Alpha Lambda Delta, announced Aahana Bajracharya from Wesleyan College Class of 2016, was awarded the Dr. Herman 'Butch' Hill Graduate Fellowship in the award amount of $3,000. This graduate fellowship is for the 2019-20 academic year.
 
Twenty-six graduate fellowships are given annually by Alpha Lambda Delta to its members from a national pool of competitive applicants. Award amounts range from $3,000 - $6,500 and are used to offset the expense of pursuing graduate or professional studies. Bajracharya was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta in 2013. As an undergraduate, she studied neuroscience and applied mathematics, and graduated in 2016. Bajracharya is pursuing a Ph.D. in imaging science at Washington University, St. Louis. On campus and in the community, she was involved in the Wesleyan College Student Government Association, Kappa Mu Epsilon, Nu Rho Psi, and was president of her Alpha Lambda Delta chapter. She received the highest student nominated honor, Wesleyan Woman of the Year, for leadership, loyalty to the College, and friendship to others.
 
Each fellowship is named for a person of significance to Alpha Lambda Delta. Dr. Herman 'Butch' Hill is the Director of the Cutler Scholars Program and University Ombudsman at Ohio University, as well as a professor of engineering. He has advised the Alpha Lambda Delta chapter at Ohio University since 1992. He served on the National Council as a Professional Member-at-Large from 1997 to 2000, then serving as Vice President for Finance and Long Range Planning from 2001 to 2016.
