The community is invited to join us for the 13th Annual Al Lucas Memorial Scholarship Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th at 5:30 PM at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.  Eight students from Bibb County will be honored with a $1,000 college scholarship. A $25 donation is suggested. Charles Richardson, will deliver the keynote address to inspire the young athletes.

These young adults have distinguished themselves through their passionate commitment to their personal development on their campuses, and in their communities. “All of our recipients show great potential in leading the next generation and emerging as leaders in the Macon-Bibb community,” CFCG Scholarship Director Monique Pitts-Taylor said. “They demonstrate positive engagement in their schools and communities that sets them apart from their peers.  I am so excited to see what great the future has in store for them.”

The Lucas Family established the Al Lucas Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2005 at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia in loving memory of Al Lucas, a Macon native and extraordinary athlete who played for the Los Angeles Avengers in the Arena Football League.  Al passed away on April 10, 2005 while making a tackle during a football game.
