Paint a Potty Competition

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, March 27th, 2019

Earth Day 2019 in Macon will feature the First Paint a Potty Competition. On Wed. April 24, in Tatnall Square Park, the completed potties will be on display. A-OK Portables, Middle Georgia’s largest portable sanitation company, has donated 5 potties for this competition.

“What a fun way to attract people to Earth Day” says A-OK owner Ms. Lee Insley. “Taking an object of some distaste and transforming it into an object of art is fascinating at so many levels” she continued.

This is the first year for the competition, organized in partnership with Mercer University and The City of Macon-Bibb. The theme of Earth Day 2019, Preserving Our Species, needs to be reflected in the design.

The units will be displayed during the Earth Day activities and people can vote for their favorite. The winner will be announced at Earth Day.

“The goal of Earth Day is to educate people about the environment” Mr. Mark Insley, AOK owner explains. “As a solid & liquid waste disposal company, A-OK is on the front lines of handling waste. In addition to servicing our customers with excellence in mind, we want to educate the public with facts about waste. Each day, people in the U.S. throw enough trash away to fill 63,000 garbage trucks. There are over 3,000 active landfills and over 10,000 “old” landfills. All of these create hazardous gas and could be a danger to groundwater” Mr. Insley stated.
