Lane Closures in the I-75/I-16 Construction Area in Macon This Week

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, March 4th, 2019

Construction crews working on the I-75/I-16 Improvements Project in Macon-Bibb County will have lane closures in three locations during the week of Mar. 3-10, 2019.

On Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 4-5, 2019 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., a lane will be closed on both I-16 eastbound and westbound, extending one mile in both directions from the I-75/I-16 split. The closure will accommodate workers who will be removing a temporary barrier wall in the area.

In addition, weather permitting, construction crews will again be pouring concrete for the deck of a new bridge that is part of the I-16/I-75 project starting at 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening, Mar. 7, 2019 and going into the early morning hours of Friday, Mar. 8, 2019. To accommodate the work, lane closures will be in effect on I-75 northbound between the Walnut Street Bridge and the Riverside Drive Bridge.

Also, the permanent (for one year) lane closure on Coliseum Drive/Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard southbound from Clinton Street to Riverside Drive will still be in effect.

Lighted signage and other barrier methods will be used to alert and guide motorists onto the usable lanes in both areas during the closures.
