Warner Robins’s Labor Force, Employed Grow in July

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Warner Robins’s unemployment rate fell in July while all major indicators remain up for the year.
At the same time, jobs, labor force and employed residents all fell for the month inside the three-county metropolitan statistical area (MSA). Unemployment claims also increased for July.
“Georgia’s continues to be in a period of sustained growth,” Butler said. “There are no indicators in July that Georgia is going to slow down anytime soon. These seasonal dips are normal for this time of year.”
The July unemployment rate fell to 4.1 percent – tied for sixth among all 14 MSAs in Georgia. The rate fell by .2 percent from the previous month. It was 5.1 percent one year ago.
The labor force fell in July by 826 to reach 86,363 total members. Warner Robins’s work force has grown by about 1,000 over the past 12 months.
Warner Robins dropped 577 from its number of employed residents in July, pushing its total to 82,863. That number has grown by about 1,900 over the past year.
Warner Robins saw jobs drop by 1,200 to reach 74,100. This puts Warner Robins up 900 jobs for the year.
Initial claims for unemployment are up by about 11 percent for the month and are down by about 16 percent for the year.
Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 779 active job postings in metro Warner Robins for July.
