Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Thursday, August 30th, 2018
Macon-Bibb County is accepting applications until September 7, 2018 for its next Youth Commission, a year-long program for students to learn more about their local consolidated government, as well as how it interacts with state and federal governments. This year’s Youth Commission will meet from September 2018 through May 2019, and is open to 10th-12th grade students in public, private, and home schools.
Students can apply for this program by clicking here.
Each month, students will meet after school to learn more about Macon-Bibb departments and partners and their roles in our community. There will be several out-of-county learning excursions, for which transportation will be provided. In the past, students have visited Japan, Germany, Atlanta, Savannah, Washington, DC, and Suwanee. Students will also be invited to Commission Meetings and given the chance to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
