Wednesday, June 6th, 2018

On Friday, June 1, Eche Salon celebrated its grand opening at its new location at 414 Cherry Street in downtown Macon.

Eche Salon is the owned and operated by Macon native, Amber Caldwell. Recently, Caldwell made the decision to make Macon a more permanent part of her life by opening Eche Salon. Her goal for Eche Salon is to bring her community together by bringing more diversity and culture to the downtown area.

“Art has always been a passion of mine in all forms,” said Caldwell. “I really wanted to create a place where people could come in and see things Macon has to offer. Diversity, Creatives, Music, and Art. I couldn’t be happier than to be in Downtown Macon. It has truly been a dream come true.”

Caldwell completed the Medical Skin Care Program and Esthestics Program at Central Georgia Technical College and completed her Master Cosmetology License under an apprenticeship. She has trained with companies such as AVEDA, ORIBE and R+CO, among others. Caldwell has worked on several sets for music videos, commercials, fashion shows, magazines, movies, and theatre for hair and makeup. Additionally, Caldwell has been working with Burt Reynolds for the past three years when he works in the surrounding areas.

Since 2017, Caldwell has managed makeup for the production of The Nutcracker in Macon. She also serves on Macon’s own Magnolia Soapbox Derby Board.

Caldwell used her extensive training and experience to develop the concept behind Eche Salon. Eche Salon is a full-service hair salon providing the most cutting edge precision techniques in hair cutting and the most innovative imaginations for hair color. Stylists specialize in healthy hair coloring and offer a diverse palette of colors ranging from natural hair colors to the full spectrum of the rainbow for ALL hair types. The Salon also offers extensions, facial waxing, mini facials, and plans to offer more services in the near future. Eche Salon also books for weddings and special occasions.

“The diversity of services our historic business district offers is what makes it unique,” said Emily Hopkins, Main Street Macon Manager. “Businesses like Eche Salon help create a healthy economy in our urban core.”

Eche Salon is one of five new businesses to open in downtown Macon in 2018. Collectively, 20 new jobs have been created from new businesses this calendar year.
