Coliseum Medical Centers Celebrates National Nutrition Month by Giving Back

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, March 21st, 2018

Every year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes March as National Nutrition Month.  The dietitian team at Coliseum Medical Centers wants to celebrate National Nutrition Month by giving back to our community.   During the month of March, the hospital will collect donated food items to support the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry.

In Georgia alone, one in six people do not the source of their next meal. Hunger knows no boundaries and affects seniors, children and working families.  Because of this, Coliseum Medical Centers will support the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry by collecting canned fruits, canned vegetables, pasta sauce, spaghetti noodles, canned meats, cereal (non-sweet varieties) and oatmeal.  All donated items must be unopened and must not be expired. Individuals in the community may drop off donations in boxes located in Guest Services in the hospital’s main lobby, the cafeteria, and the cancer center (Building C, Suite 120).

The St. Peter Claver Food Pantry helps the hungry and less fortunate on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.  They are also one of many churches that participate in the Weekend Meal Ministry to provide lunch to low income and homeless individuals on weekends throughout the year.
