Align Technology, Inc., the makers of Invisalign clear aligners, recently appointed J. Don Spillers Jr., DMD, MS, to its teaching faculty. In his new role, Dr. Spillers will travel the world teaching orthodontists how to use the Invisalign system.
“Over the past 10 years, I’ve dedicated myself to learning all I can about aligner treatment,” says Dr. Spillers. “It’s totally different than treating patients with braces. Aligner treatment is the wave of the future, and we’re excited to be ahead of the wave and to teach others about the Invisalign system.”
Spillers is one of four orthodontists added to the faculty for 2018. His first speaking engagement takes place in Toronto, Canada, in March.
Invisalign treatment is a modern approach to straightening teeth that uses a series of smooth, plastic aligners to move the teeth gradually and gently into place. The aligners are removable, clear and virtually imperceptible. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, Invisalign treatment also boasts faster treatment time than braces, requires less orthodontic appointments, and makes it possible for patients to maintain optimal oral hygiene since there are no brackets and wires to trap plaque.
Dr. Spillers began treating patients using the Invisalign system in 1999, and has since performed over 1,800 cases. He is a Diamond Plus Provider, a level of recognition awarded to the leading one percent of Invisalign providers nationwide.
