Macon-Bibb Tax Commissioner's Office Holding Tax Relief Seminars

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, January 29th, 2018

The Macon-Bibb County Tax Commissioner’s Office will hold three tax relief seminars for people to learn about available homestead exemptions, alternate payment solutions, and the property tax assessment and appeal process. The forums will be held in Commission Chambers at Government Center (700 Poplar Street) on Thursday, January 25, February 22, and March 22 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Tax Commissioner Wade McCord and representatives from the Tax Assessors’ Office will give presentations on the topics before opening the floor for questions.  A representative from the Solid Waste Department will also be available to discuss garbage and recycling collection and billing.  Following the program, staff from the Tax Commissioner’s Office will be available to help people with their homestead exemption application and/or with their payment plans.

“We want to help people better understand their local taxes, learn how they can save money, and let them know about a payment plan option if they are behind on paying their taxes and solid waste bills,” says Wade McCord, Tax Commissioner.

This is the third year the Tax Commissioner’s Office has offered these public seminars. For more information, or if you can’t attend the seminars and want to learn more, contact the Tax Commissioner’s Office at 478-621-6500.
