Cox Announces Grant Opportunity for Middle Georgia Non-Profits
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Wednesday, January 10th, 2018
Cox Communications announced the Cox Charity Community Grant Program, a special program designed to redistribute charitable funding formerly set aside for the Capitol Theatre. Through years of ongoing cash and in-kind support, Cox helped the theatre reopen its doors in an effort to revitalize downtown Macon. Now that the theatre is transitioning from a non-profit into a for-profit organization, Cox will redirect charitable funding formerly reserved for the theatre, to support area non-profits in 2018.
Now through the end of February, area schools, non-profits and government agencies are invited to submit applications to Cox for a grant of up to $10,000. Local organizations who are selected will be announced in March. Interested organizations should submit an application packet to [email protected] with the following information:
Detailed description of the organization
Summary of the program/project the funds would support
Information on specific need or problem this program/project would address
Budget for program/project and other financial support
Specific detail as to how Cox funds will be allocated
The Cox Charity Community Grant Program is designed to assist 501(c)(3) organizations with programs that benefit Cox’s Middle Georgia service area. This initiative will complement, not replace, the company’s existing generous charitable giving program. In 2017, Cox donated approximately $750,000 in cash and in-kind donations to area non-profits, charities and government organizations.
“For over 100 years, Cox has been actively committed to the communities we serve,” said Bonnie Lopez-Crowe, market vice president for Cox Middle Georgia. “The charitable impact we made in 2017, coupled with our charitable plans in 2018 and beyond, further reflect our continuing dedication to supporting non-profits and those in need in the Middle Georgia area.”
