SERVICE TO COMMUNITY INDUCTEE: BEVERLY KNIGHT OLSON
Beverly Knight Olson is no stranger to our community. Ms. Olson has several causes that are close to her heart and her investment back into our community is extraordinary. Beverly Knight Olson is one of four daughters of Knight Foundation co-founder, James L. Knight. Being a community steward is second nature to Beverly. In addition to her unwavering support to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia, Ms. Olson is supportive of several other community causes including Historic Macon Foundation, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Macon Rescue Mission and Navicent Health System. Ms. Olson believes in supporting her causes by offering financial support and more importantly, her time. Her love for
children and our community makes our decision to recognize Ms. Olson as the 2018 ‘SERVICE TO COMMUNITY’ Hall of Fame Inductee an easy one.
CLUB ALUMNI INDUCTEE: AUBRY BOYD
Mr. Aubry Boyd grew up attending the Second Street Boys & Girls Club and was regarded as one of the top high school recruits for basketball. After graduating from Southwest High School, Mr. Boyd was recruited and played basketball for the Florida State University Seminoles. There, Mr. Boyd had an impressive career averaging 6.7 points per game and 2.5 rebounds. Mr. Boyd credits the Boys & Girls Club as the source of his love of the game and providing the programming that allowed him the opportunity to graduate high school and enroll in post-secondary education. In 1995, Mr. Boyd suffered a devastating injury while playing pick-up football with his friends. He was paralyzed from the neck down but has gained limited movement in his arms and legs. As an alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia and an inspiration to hundreds of youth and teens in our community, Aubry is an obvious choice as our 2018 ‘CLUB ALUMNI’ Hall of Fame Inductee.
