Main Street Macon Celebrates Healthier Choices in Downtown Macon

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, November 27th, 2017

On Tuesday, November 21, Main Street Macon hosted a ribbon cutting to welcome The Green Plate Salad and Sandwich Shoppe to downtown Macon. The Green Plate offers healthy lunch options for Maconites including made-to-order wraps, soups, and salads.

Andreau Adside opened The Green Plate with his sister, Shameika Tolber in September 2017 after seeing a need for greener, healthier options in the urban core.

“We decided to open The Green Plate to give Maconites an opportunity to focus on healthy eating,” said Shameika Tolber, co-owner of The Green Plate. “Andreau and I recognized the revitalization of Macon’s historic downtown and wanted to be a part of that growth.”

Andreau Adside is not new to downtown Macon. He is the co-owner of Ambitious Graphics, a custom T-shirt company located at 584 Poplar Street. After opening Ambitious Graphics in February 2017 with his business partners, Wayne Woodard, Adside wanted to expand his enterprises and open a family-owned business.

“We decided to open The Green Plate because we wanted to give downtown-goers another lunch option,” said Adside. “I work downtown everyday and eat lunch at downtown restaurants frequently. I realized there weren’t many options when I wanted something lite. My sister and I saw an opportunity to add a sandwich, wrap, and salad shop and The Green Plate was born.”

The Green Plate is located at 440 MLK Blvd., Suite 103 in the Technicon Building. The Green Plate is open Monday through Friday, 11am to 3pm, and offers a full catering menu and delivery. For more information, like The Green Plate Salad and Sandwich Shoppe on Facebook or call 478-258-1633.
