Government Offices, Public Schools Closure Update

Government Offices
Macon-Bibb County government offices will be closed Monday, September 11, 2017 as the weather from Hurricane Irma passes through our area. Trash and recycling services will not run on Monday. Emergency personnel and staff assigned to disaster response and recovery should report as directed by their department heads.
Offices will reopen Tuesday morning, as normally scheduled. If a person has difficulty driving to work due to road conditions, they are to contact their supervisor. Macon-Bibb Committees will meet as scheduled, beginning Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
Bibb County School District
Due to concerns for student and staff safety, the Bibb County School District will be closed on Tuesday, September 12. All schools and buildings will be closed. The district will resume normal operations on Wednesday, September 13.
Essential operations staff - including maintenance, principals, lead transportation staff, head custodians, lead nutrition staff, technology services - are to report at 10 a.m. Tuesday in order to assess the conditions of buildings, facilities and resources. Initial status reports should be made by 12 p.m. Tuesday to Chief of Staff Keith Simmons.
Senior Cabinet, Principals and Operational Directors should report to the Board Room at 1 p.m. Tuesday for a briefing on conditions.
