Friday, July 7th, 2017

The United Way of Central Georgia has strengthened its communications team by hiring Michael Caputo as Marketing and Communications Associate.

Caputo will serve as chief storyteller for the organization, its partner agencies and the people they serve. He’ll connect those stories through traditional media outlets and using social media. Caputo will also shepherd the UWCG’s marketing and communications plan.

“We are incredibly fortunate to be able to add Michael to our staff,” said United Way of Central Georgia President and CEO George McCanless. “Having someone with his storytelling expertise, combined with his extensive community engagement experience, will allow us to tell the United Way story like never before.”

Caputo has worked more than 25 years as a journalist, most recently as Macon Bureau Chief for Georgia Public Broadcasting. He’s been a newspaper reporter and columnist in upstate New York and a television news director for public broadcasting in Rochester. He also worked as an engagement manager for American Public Media's Public Insight Network, using web-based tools to increase sources for news coverage.

“The United Way of Central Georgia is a community builder and change agent,” Caputo said. “I’m pleased to play a role in communicating the initiatives and efforts that deserve to be shared.”

He’s married to Susan Lundy and has two children, Cole, 15, and Zoe, 12.
