Apply Now to be a Macon-Bibb Youth Commissioner

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, July 26th, 2017

Macon-Bibb County is accepting applications until August 4 for its next Youth Commission, a year-long program for students to learn more about their local consolidated government, as well as how it interacts with state and federal government. This year’s Youth Commission will meet from August 2017 through May 2018, and it is open to 10th-12th grade students in public, private, and home schools.

Students can apply for this program by clicking here.

Each month, students will meet after school to learn more about Macon-Bibb departments and partners and their roles in our community. There will be several out-of-county learning excursions, for which transportation will be provided. In the past, students have visited Japan, Germany, Atlanta, Savannah, Washington, DC, and Suwanee. Students will also be invited to Commission Meetings and given the chance to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
