Since the July 4 holiday is on a Tuesday this year, the Macon-Bibb Commission voted to give county workers July 3 off as a paid holiday as well. Government offices will be closed and emergency services will be maintained both days.

Solid Waste collection (garbage, recycling, and yard waste) will be on a different schedule that week because of the holiday. (The full schedule is below.) To learn which day collection is normally scheduled for your area please visit our Solid Waste website.  The landfill and Solid Waste offices will be closed both Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4.

Wednesday, July 5 – Normal Tuesday collection

Thursday, July 6 – Normal Wednesday collection

Also, because the first Tuesday of each month is when we hold our Commission Meetings, it was decided the meeting scheduled for July 4 would be moved to Wednesday, July 5, at 6:00 p.m. It will be held in Commission Chambers and will be streamed live online.
