Cater C. Thompson Joins Local SunTrust Advisory Board

SunTrust Bank, Middle Georgia has named Cater C. Thompson to the bank’s Advisory Board, replacing Tim Adams who recently retired from the board after 40 years of service.

Our Advisory Board members provide valuable insight and diverse perspectives of the local market from their unique experiences in the community.”

Cater C. Thompson has been with Jones Cork, LLP since 1983. Thompson has a general practice concentrated in the area of creditors’ rights, including bankruptcy and foreclosure, probate, business law, and public finance. She has extensive experience handling judicial tax foreclosure and has served as a special master in quiet title actions. Thompson has served as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, and underwriter’s counsel for various public school districts, as well as water and sewer, development and hospital authorities.

Thompson has been named to the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers, and has received a peer review rating Martindale- Hubbell rating of AV – Preeminent. During law school, Ms. Thompson was a member of the Mercer Law Review and Phi Delta Phi.

Thompson serves as general counsel and ex-officio member of the Boards of Trustees of the Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference, Inc. and the Foundation for the Methodist Home of the South Georgia Conference. She has served in many leadership roles at Macon’s Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, including past chair of the Administrative Board, and vice-chair of the Board of Trustees. She is also on the Board of the Wesley Foundation of Macon.

SunTrust Bank’s local advisory board members are important advisors in executing the bank’s strategy in the communities it serves. The board is comprised of civic and business leaders who assist SunTrust with business development and general oversight of the local market by providing a broader perspective about business and community issues from various industry vantage points.
