Middle Georgians Invited to Run in their Undies at the Undy 5K Run/Walk April 1st
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Wednesday, March 8th, 2017
The Coliseum Cancer Institute will once again bring the Undy 5K Run/Walk to Macon. On Saturday, April 1, racers will gather at Wesleyan College at 9:00 a.m. wearing their underwear on the outside of their race attire as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the area on the body affected by colon cancer.
The 2017 Macon Undy 5K Run/Walk financially supports the efforts of the Colon Cancer Alliance to provide colon cancer screening and education to patients in Middle Georgia. The Undy Run/Walk will be held in cities across the country to educate the public about colon cancer, promote screenings and encourage people to talk about the disease. Instead of race day T-shirts, all registered participants receive a commemorative pair of Undy 5K Run/Walk boxers. It is a family-friendly event open to all ages, and in addition to the 5K, there will be kid’s activities.
All survivors of colon cancer are encouraged to run and receive free registration. The race course will begin and end on the campus of Wesleyan College and the course is “stroller friendly” for participants who may wish to go at a slower pace. Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place for all age groups. There will also be a prize for best costume.
