As part of a resolution in the Georgia General Assembly this week, House representatives recognized Dann Webb, Central Georgia Technical College’s executive director for Military and Veterans Services, as an award-winning Military Affairs coordinator in the Technical College System of Georgia.

Webb, along with coordinators from Savannah Technical College, Wiregrass Technical College, and Gwinnett Technical College received the recognition under the General Assembly’s House Resolution 330 for taking care of brave veterans and helping them assimilate back into civilian life.

The recognition also stems from CGTC’s 2017 national ranking as 24th for technical colleges in service to veterans, and designation as such by the Military Friendly brand, a nationally recognized organization for being the original, trusted resource on post-military education and employment options for veterans and military families. In addition to Military Friendly, the College was also designated Best for Vets by the Armed Forces publication, Military Times, and received additional accolades from Military Education and Transition Magazine’s Top Colleges & Universities feature.

“We’re very happy that the College has been designated in the Top 25 colleges in the country serving the military.” Webb said. “Veterans and their families have long had a special place at Central Georgia Tech. This designation helps the veterans and their families make the best decisions regarding their education.  We will continue to serve the men, women, and their families who have served our country."

During the 2015-2016 academic year, 334 military and veteran personnel enrolled at CGTC. The College’s most recent efforts to meet the educational needs of veterans and troops enrolled came with the opening of the Georgia Veteran’s Education Career Transition Resource Center in August 2016, to offer a “one-stop shop” for college courses and educational resources to veteran and active-duty military personnel.

Since opening in August 2016, the Georgia VECTR Center has already served over 4,500 veterans and their families.
