Governor Nathan Deal announced that Baldwin County would receive a grant reward as part of the Georgia Rural AP STEM Initiative. This initiative, which supports the implementation of AP programs in computer science and statistics, is the result of a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement and the College Board. It is designed to create a vertical pathway to student success in AP STEM courses in high-need rural areas throughout Georgia.

“I am proud of Baldwin County for earning this grant from the Georgia Rural AP STEM Initiative,” said Sen. Burt Jones (R–Jackson). “This initiative will help students grow academically and will benefit schools around the county.”

Baldwin County will receive up to $30,000 to aid in the successful implementation, creation and strengthening of computer science courses in its middle and high schools. These grant funds can also be used to encourage students to participate in the courses and to promote ongoing, professional learning for Pre-AP and AP teachers.
