Margaret O’Neal presented a $1,000 grant from the B.P. O’Neal Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia to the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia on Thursday, December 29th. This grant was to help provide gifts for the children being served at the Rescue Mission. Ms. O’Neal believes that the children are our future and deserve happiness.
Mr. B.P. O’Neal was from Thompson, Georgia and although he contracted Tuberculosis at an early age, he lived a long, eventful life. He made his living working with timber in Cordele and Macon. Mr. O’Neal established a charitable trust in 1934 through his will as a means for his family to advise charitable gifts to nonprofits in Bibb County. In 1998, the trust was converted to a donor advised fund at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. Today, the grandchildren of B.P. O’Neal advise the fund and make grants to support the causes they love.
