Adult Education Programs at CGTC Have a New Home
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Wednesday, December 7th, 2016
Programs from the Corder Road site of the Adult Education Division of Central Georgia Technical College have moved to a new home location.
Adult education services will now be offered on the Warner Robins campus located at 80 Cohen Walker Drive. Although the location has changed, the commitment of leadership and staff is still the same.
“CGTC is committed to the same level and quality of education that we have provided at Corder Road,” said Dorothy Ferguson, director of operations for the Adult Education Division.
Ferguson said the move to the Warner Robins campus is good because it will give students access to services such as, admissions, the Tutoring Center, the Career Center and the Titans Café, on campus that they did not have at the Corder Road site.
Programs currently available in the Adult Education division include, GED® Preparation and Testing, English Literacy and Civics, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery preparation, and U.S. citizenship test preparation. During the 2015-2016 academic year, the Adult Education division awarded citizenship to the largest number of students in the Technical College System of Georgia.
In September, TCSG also recognized and awarded the Division in five additional areas at the 2016 Adult Education Fall Conference and GED® Awards.
The CGTC Adult Education Division provides services in several locations throughout central Georgia. The Division’s service delivery area includes the following counties: Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Macon, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, and Twiggs. Many of the locations are in churches, schools or other public buildings.
All of the centers are available to meet the adult education needs of the communities in which they reside. Sites located on a CGTC center or campus offer credit-instruction courses toward a certificate or diploma after completing the necessary adult education requirements.
The AED also has an innovative program called, Accelerating Opportunity, which helps the students transition from adult education studies to technical credit programs.
Orientation sessions for new classes in the programs on the Warner Robins campus take place on Mondays at 8:30 a.m., in the A-Building, Room 217. Applicants may pre-register at any time Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
