Autism Center, Navicent Health is pleased to host monthly support meetings for families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disorders. Free monthly support and training is offered through Parent Empowerment Program Talks.

The next PEP Talk will take place on Tuesday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Autism Center, Navicent Health (1014 Forsyth Street, Macon). Parking is available in the Yellow Parking Deck. The topic will be stress relieving techniques.

“Many of our families face stress on a daily basis, and stress can increase as the holidays approach. Now is a perfect time to discuss stress relieving techniques and help our families mitigate stress,” said Maureen Eckard, Project Manager with Autism Center, Navicent Health.

Information on Down syndrome will also be presented at the October PEP Talk. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Down syndrome affects approximately 1 in 700 babies annually and continues to be the most common chromosomal disorder. October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

PEP Talks are hosted on the second Tuesday of each consecutive month and feature a variety of topics useful for families affected by ASD and other developmental disorders. PEP Talks are free for family members, educators, healthcare professionals and the public, and offer evidence-based information along with tools and tips for families to use at home, school and within the community.

While PEP Talks are free, registration is encouraged. Please contact Autism Center, Navicent Health at 478-633-8100 or at [email protected] to register.
