Nick Vaughn, AIA, has been elected to serve as president of the Middle Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the 2016 – 2017 term. Currently serving as president-elect, Vaughn sees great opportunity to support the goals of the AIA, serving as the voice of the architecture profession in Middle Georgia, advancing professional development, and offering continuing education opportunities.
As the architectural department head in Georgia and an associate with Clark Nexsen, Vaughn is committed to the mentorship of young architects and aims to foster a collaborative team environment where ideas are freely shared. His project leadership includes an emphasis in the higher education and Department of Defense market sectors, working with clients such as the University of Georgia, Penn State, and NAVFAC, among others.
Raised in Virginia Beach, Vaughn has worked for Clark Nexsen since he was 16 years old, getting his first exposure to the architecture profession transporting drawings from the office to construction sites. Throughout his tenure with the firm, Vaughn has demonstrated many leadership qualities and a commitment to collaboration that enhances every project and client relationship.
Vaughn looks forward to bringing this commitment to his role as president, working with his fellow members in the Middle Georgia Chapter to increase awareness of the AIA and architectural employment opportunities in the area. During his attendance of the AIA National Conference in Philadelphia, Vaughn stated that he came away with an even deeper appreciation for the important role of the organization in shaping the future of the profession.
