The Middle Georgia Job Readiness and Recruitment Event this week in Milledgeville will provide excellent employment opportunities in various manufacturing industries.
The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building on the Milledgeville campus of Central Georgia Technical College located at 54 Georgia 22.
The event is co-sponsored by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Workforce Division, Middle Georgia Consortium, Inc., Middle Georgia Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Labor.
Attendees must participate in an orientation session and be screened to determine which employability services would be most beneficial to them. While it’s not required, they are encouraged to attend either, or both, of two 45-minute job readiness workshops on resume writing and job interviewing prior to talking with employers. The workshops will help jobseekers make a more favorable impression when talking with potential employers.
Job seekers will be able to develop and print resumes. Experts will review the resumes for the jobseekers. Job seekers bringing their own resumes to the event may also have them reviewed by the experts before they meet with employers.
Information will be available about on-the-job training, the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance program and various apprenticeship programs.
A partial list of employers includes First Quality, Lowe’s, Parrish Construction Group, River Edge Behavioral Health Center and Schneider Trucking.
These companies will be recruiting for the following positions: assistant project manager, assistant superintendent, chemical engineer, comptroller, control technician-multicraft, customer service representative, front-end sales specialist, machine operators, manufacturing quality supervisor, quality control technicians, superintendent, training coordinator, truck drivers with a class-A commercial drivers license.
