Hometown Connection to Include Passenger Rail, Craft Beer Discussion

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, October 27th, 2016

Macon-Bibb County will host a Hometown Connection event on Thursday, October 27 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the fourth floor conference room of the Historic Macon Terminal Station (200 Cherry Street). Local, regional, and state officials and leaders have been invited to learn about Macon-Bibb County’s progress as a consolidated government, its vision for the future, and updates on two key items that could impact the economic development of the region.

Presentations and discussions will include the mandatory budget reductions that were accomplished ahead of schedule; the goal for Macon-Bibb to be the hub city of Middle Georgia; the need for changes in craft beer laws in the state to encourage small breweries to open and thrive; and the need for serious action to be taken on passenger rail between Macon-Bibb and Atlanta. Featured speakers will be Mayor Robert Reichert, Nancy Palmer with the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild, and Tom Gehl with the Georgia Municipal Association.
