CGTC Cosmetology Program to Present Donation to Keris Kares Foundation
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Friday, October 14th, 2016
The Cosmetology program at Central Georgia Technical College will present a sizeable donation to Keris Kares, a Georgia non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families dealing with pediatric cancer, on Monday, October 17th on the Warner Robins campus, located at 80 Cohen Walker Drive. The presentation will take place at 12:00 p.m. in the A-Building lobby.
Cosmetology students and faculty held a bake-sale fundraiser at the end of September on the Warner Robins, Macon, and Milledgeville campuses in which all proceeds benefitted Keris Kares.
Each fall semester, the Cosmetology program hosts various fundraisers and activities to raise awareness for cancer research. To date, the program has raised more than $15,000 for local breast cancer charities. Since September is National Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, the program deemed it appropriate that Keris Kares be this year’s beneficiary.
The Cosmetology program’s change to raise funds for Keris Kares and pediatric cancer is in support of Jackie Knight, a long-standing client of the program and grandmother to Keris Bembry, for whom the foundation is named.
