In a recent survey conducted by Onlinecolleges.com, Central Georgia Technical College ranked No. 1 in Georgia as a two-year college offering online classes and degree programs. Nationwide, the College holds the No. 3 ranking.
OnlineColleges ranked more than 2,800 accredited colleges nationwide on 11 variables including, student services, affordability, counseling services, job placement, and availability of online programs. CGTC’s position is highest among 679 two-year schools in the state.
Data for their analysis is pulled directly from the National Center for Education Statistics which leads the site in scoring the colleges out of 100. CGTC received a score of 99.93.
The analysis and ranking is in-depth and has been re-designed into an interactive tool that provides potential students with a breakdown of schools in an effort to aide them in choosing the right path.
The accolades don’t end there for CGTC.
Monday, the Community for Accredited Online Schools released their Top 2016-2017 Trade and Vocational Schools, and CGTC ranked No. 10 among the nation’s two-year schools.
The Community for Accredited Online Schools published the results online in a section titled, The Ultimate Guide to Trade and Vocational Schools, where in addition to their efforts to explore “the economic demand for skilled, trained and educated workforce,” they assist potential students in their quest for the appropriate institution.
Comparing a variety of data points for both online and on-campus professional training programs, the list ranks the top 50 two-year and four-year schools respectively, based on program variety and affordability. However, in order to qualify to be ranked, vocational and trade schools must also offer student placement services after graduation.
The Community for Accredited Online Schools is a Nevada-based provider of higher education information and resources.
“The demand for skilled workers in the vocational and trade fields is growing,” said Doug Jones, CEO and Founder of the Community for Accredited Online Schools. “The vocational and skilled trade programs at these schools are being highlighted for their commitment to students who want to earn a high quality degree and contribute to the workforce quickly and efficiently.”
Similar to OnlineColleges, the format is a breakdown of qualities and a snippet of general information about programs of study and accreditation.
Cynthia Rumney, dean of distance education at CGTC, stressed the expansion of online methods of learning in combination with traditional, such as BlendFlex courses, which allow students to attend class on campus one week and online the next and the variety of courses as vital in their work. Online courses are something CGTC works diligently to provide part of the division’s effort to meet individual needs and schedules of students.
“Online learning is a growing facet of our college's well-rounded educational offerings and provides students the opportunity to pursue their educational goals outside of the traditional classroom setting,” Rumney said. “We are very pleased our online education program has been recognized and remain steadfast in our commitment to providing high quality, innovative, and affordable courses for our students.”
