One of the latest and most advanced weapons in the war on breast cancer is 3D mammography, a tool that provides a more accurate image for the early detection of breast cancer. Committed to protecting women and their health, Navicent Health is pleased to introduce GE Healthcare’s SenoClaire 3D mammography technology to the region.
 
Navicent Health invites the community to learn more about 3D mammography at an open house on Thursday, September 8 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This free community event will take place at Peyton Anderson Cancer Center, Navicent Health (800 First Street, Macon). Parking is available in the Blue Parking Deck.
 
Attendees will learn more about the benefits of 3D mammography, tour the facility to learn the process for detecting breast cancer and the importance of early detection, speak with physicians and enjoy refreshments.
 
GE’s SenoClaire 3D Breast Tomosynthsis is a revolutionary new screening and diagnostic tool designed for the early detection of breast cancer. The advanced 3D mammography provides greater accuracy for earlier and easier detection of cancer cells, improving breast cancer detection by up to 50 percent. The technology also reduces the risk of false positives by up to 40 percent.

During a patient’s screening mammogram, mammography technologists will use the 3D technology to sweep in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple images of the breast tissue. A computer then uses these images to produce a layered 3D image of the breast tissue. This 3D image provides greater detail and allows the radiologist to see within the breast layer by layer to find cancer cells earlier than ever before.
