Macon-Bibb Holding 9/11 Ceremony Friday
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Thursday, September 8th, 2016
On Friday, September 9 beginning at 8:45 a.m., Macon-Bibb County will remember the tragic events of September 11 and honor the first responders that protect our city and country on a daily basis. The Ceremony – sponsored by the Macon-Bibb Law Enforcement Foundation – will be held at Public Safety Memorial Park on Mulberry Street in Downtown Macon-Bibb.
“This will mark the 15 anniversary of the tragic events that occurred on 9/11,” says Warren Selby. “Our ceremony is to honor those that lost their lives 15 years ago and to let their families know they are remembered. We also place a rose in front of each of the monuments in Public Safety Park to say thank you to these men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our community. We will never forget.”
There will be a Presentation of Colors by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb County Fire Department Honor Guard. Roses will be placed on the Memorial by Sheriff David Davis, Chief Marvin Riggins, and Colonel Henderson Carswell as a symbol that Macon-Bibb will never forget the sacrifice made by these individuals in service to the community. A wreath will be placed at the Memorial to remember those that lost their life on 9/11 and to honor all men and women in public safety. Bagpiper Don Bray will play “Amazing Grace” right before the Georgia State Patrol conducts a flyover.
