CGTC Supports Bibb County Scholars

Central Georgia Technical College recently donated $1,250 to the Bibb County School District for Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen Georgia scholarships

Chris Orrison, vice chair for the CGTC Foundation, presented the check to the school district during a signing day event to honor middle school scholars on Monday in Macon at the William S. Hutchings College and Career Academy. Governor Nathan Deal and community leaders were on hand to honor the significance of these students committing to the educational initiative.

The sponsorship of CGTC for BCSD and REACH Georgia goes toward college scholarships for qualifying students. The middle school students signed contracts committing to upholding program requirements needed to receive the scholarships. Should they maintain a 2.5 GPA, good attendance and satisfactory behavior they are eligible to receive $2,500 in scholarships per year for a total of $10,000.

Gov. Deal spoke on how committing scholarship money to middle schoolers is ahead of the educational future.

Orrison said it is an honor to support the program and extend this partnership into the future.
