An evening of dining, dancing to the sounds of 7Once and more in celebration of Goodwill’s mission in Aiken awaits guests at the inaugural Dinner at Dusk at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at the historic Whitney Polo Pavilion, 420 Mead Ave.

The festive, farm-to-table dining experience will highlight local, seasonal foods prepared by certified chef instructors and culinary students from Goodwill’s Helms College School of Hospitality. All proceeds from Dinner at Dusk will support the education and training programs of Goodwill and Helms College in the Aiken community.

“We’re thrilled that Dinner at Dusk offers such a marvelous opportunity to introduce Goodwill and Helms College to a broader audience in our Aiken community,” said Shannon Ellis, Co-Chair with husband, Geoff, of the Dinner at Dusk planning committee and a member of Goodwill’s Board of Directors and its Hospitality Advisory Board. “Many people know Goodwill for their retail stores, without realizing that revenue from those stores returns to the community where it provides people with a ‘hand up’ through education and career services, including Helms College.”

Goodwill’s Job Connection at 1015 Pine Log Road in Aiken proudly served more than 2,600 individuals seeking career services in 2015, including assistance for the visually impaired, and helped secure job placements for 572 men and women. A capital campaign designed to serve additional individuals through Helms College programs at the Aiken campus currently is in the planning stages.

A limited number of sponsorship opportunities are available for Dinner at Dusk. For more information on supporting the work of Goodwill and Helms College through tax-deductible sponsorship or ticket purchases, go to www.goodwillworks.org/dinneratdusk.
