New Goodwill Women and Children’s Store Opens in Macon
Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016
Due to overwhelming demand from customers, Goodwill’s outlet store in Macon starting Aug. 11 will be open additional days each week and provide shoppers with access to first-line donated clothing for children and women of all ages.
The store, operated by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia Inc., is located adjacent to Kroger at 4650 Forsyth Road, Macon, and now will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. The adjacent donation drive-through will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Instead of being restocked weekly via the outlet model, with unsold items from other Middle Georgia Goodwill stores, the Forsyth Road Goodwill will be updated continuously with thousands of freshly donated goods from Goodwill donation centers in the region.
“Since its opening in March, the Last Chance! outlet clearly gained its greatest popularity from female shoppers seeking bargains on gently used garments for themselves and their families, along with area students looking for great deals on fashion finds,” said James K. Stiff, president of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia. “By opening additional days and curating clothing specifically for our most dedicated shoppers, we hope to provide an exciting, upscale resale experience that helps provide funding for Goodwill’s career development services.”
Revenue from donations sold in Goodwill retail training stores support Goodwill’s job training, education and career development services provided through the Job Connection, Helms College and the Helms Career Center.
