Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Friday, August 5th, 2016
The Fox 94.7 is now streaming live on Shoutcast, one of the premier services for radio stations to deliver their product to a global audience. The station, launched on January 15, 2016, by local owners John Timms and the late Oscar Leverette, is Macon’s only classic hits station, playing a variety of hit music from the late 1960’s through the early 1990’s.
The Fox 94.7 is the first radio station in Middle Georgia to broadcast in HD on 107.1 HD3. Because of the crystal-clear sound, automobile manufacturers have started including HD radios as standard equipment on more than 200 of their 2016 models, with the anticipation that all new automobiles will soon have this digital audio platform.
“We can now be heard anywhere in the world on the internet through computers and mobile devices,” said John Timms, co-founder of The Fox 94.7. “But our focus is still providing local programing with well-known people from the Macon radio market.”
Macon native Ben Sandifer is the morning show host on The Fox 94.7, weekdays between 6 and 10 a.m. A six-time Gabby award winner from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Sandifer has been an active part of the Macon broadcast community since the early 1970’s. Interviews with people from local organizations are part of the morning show, shortly after 8:30 each morning.
Gail Daniels hosts the afternoon drive time program, between 3 and 7 p.m. each weekday on The Fox 94.7. Daniels has won Music Director of the Year and Air Personality of the Year from Billboard magazine and the CMA. She has been a part of Macon radio and television for nearly 22 years.
