The Central Georgia Technical College Foundation will host the 7th Annual Race for Education 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, September 17 at the College’s Warner Robins Campus located at 80 Cohen Walker Drive. The Race for Education is a fundraiser supporting Adult Education programs at CGTC, including health and family literacy programs, ESL programs, and GED scholarships.

The Race for Education is held annually in September in celebration of National Literacy Month. The Foundation and committee members involved anticipate a successful event for runners and the community, but also one for the Adult Education Program it serves.

“Adult education is a critical part of the mission of CGTC,” said Tonya L. McClure, assistant vice president of institutional advancement at CGTC. “The funds raised via the Foundation’s Race for Education are used to offset the expenses of GED® testing for our students so that they can obtain their GED® and be better prepared for the workforce or move forward in pursuing a college education.”

Same-day registration for all races will begin at 7:30 a.m. with scheduled start times of 8:30 a.m., and 9:00 a.m., for the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run respectively. The 5K registration fee is $30 and the Fun Run, $25. Teams are highly encouraged to participate and will receive a 10% discount toward the cost of registration.

Race logistics, finish line management and results are provided by Classic Race Services. Results will be posted to Classic Race Services, Active, Cool Running and Running in the USA sites immediately following the race.

Medals will be awarded to the overall male and female finishers and the top three finishers in each age group. Each Fun Run participant will receive a ribbon.
