Macon Arts Alliance Presents Taste of the Arts: Soul Train

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Thursday, July 28th, 2016

Put on your dancing shoes! It's time for Taste of the Arts: Soul Train, Macon's premiere, themed gala fundraiser benefitting the programs of Macon Arts Alliance. Taste of the Arts will be held Saturday, August 13 at 7 p.m. in the historic Terminal Station. Attendees are encouraged to don their super bad 70s attire and groove to the beat all night long!

The end of summer marks the onset of the always exceptional arts and culture season in Central Georgia! Each year a dynamic unveiling of events occurs at Taste of the Arts, an evening that celebrates a robust and artful calendar for 2016-2017. This year's theme, Soul Train, is a nod to an era of peace, love, and funk, but also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the downtown's crown jewel, the historic Terminal Station.

As Macon-Bibb County's designated local arts agency, the Macon Arts Alliance's mission is to foster and support the advancement of arts and culture in Central Georgia. Macon Arts Alliance serves, promotes and advocates for more than 50 fine arts organizations throughout the mid-state, a collaboration known as the Arts Roundtable.

These leading arts and cultural organizations are the true focal point of the evening, each competing with members of their staff and/or board for your vote of best sweet dish, best savory dish, and best decorated table. Each Arts Roundtable member group will have information about their upcoming events, productions, performances, and more.

This year, in addition to super bad 70s attire and dancing on the platform, a live and silent auction will keep the boogie fever at an all-time high. The live auction will include a painting by Steve Penley, dinner for twenty at Dovetail, Grand Marshal title and personal float at the Main Street Macon Christmas parade, vacation home in Fripp Island, South Carolina, and an exclusive dinner party downtown. The silent auction ranges from fine art, to Disney Park Passes, to the Macon Pops, and a variety of tickets to arts and culture events. Taste of the Arts: Soul Train promises to be the funkiest dance party of the summer!

The funds generated by this event go directly to support the programs and mission of Macon Arts Alliance. Programs of Macon Arts Alliance include Arts Roundtable, Ovations365 Arts and Culture Community Calendar, Mill Hill East Macon Arts Village, Amplify Creative Entrepreneur Program, and the Macon Arts Gallery.
