Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

The Urban Development Authority is beginning the design process for Rosa Parks Square in Downtown Macon-Bibb County. That process includes seeking the feedback of Macon-Bibb Commissioners, so design firm HGOR and representatives from the UDA will be set up to talk with them on Tuesday, July 19 and July 26 beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Large Conference Room in Government Center (700 Poplar Street).
In addition to those two opportunities for Commissioners, a Design Public Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 28 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Government Center (700 Poplar Street). This will give people the chance to tell HGOR how they would like to see Rosa Parks Square designed so that it is more usable for residents, businesses, and visitors.
“This is a chance for our designers to hear from Commissioners how they envision the future of Rosa Parks Square, and how to attract people to it on a regular basis,” says Alex Morrison, Executive Director of the Urban Development Authority. “There is a great deal of history to be learned from the plaques, markers, and monuments already in the Square, and by creating a vibrant space, we will be exposing people to the lessons of our past.”
