The Macon-Bibb Commission has started the process of working on the list of projects that could potentially be funded by the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. The Commission will spend the next several weeks meeting with the public and other partners to develop a list that will be voted on by the public in November. The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia is facilitating the process and helping the Commission develop its final list.
 
As part of the facilitation process, several public forums will be held to get feedback directly from people on the projects they would like funded and what they would like to see accomplished. During the forums, ACCG representatives will provide an overview of what a SPLOST is and what can be funded, and then people will be able to ask questions about the current SPLOST projects and make suggestions for the future SPLOST.
 
Below is a schedule for four public forums; each begins at 6:00 p.m. Anyone unable to attend a meeting can send suggestions for projects to [email protected].

The current penny tax started April 1, 2012, and will end in March 2018. It has made possible many projects, including: significant improvement and additions to recreation centers; a new Animal Welfare Center; a new Juvenile Justice Center; courthouse improvements; road and stormwater system upgrades and repairs; economic development projects; and much more.
