Macon-Bibb to Hold Public Works Appreciation Day

As part of National Public Works Week, Macon-Bibb County will host Public Works Day on Thursday, May 26, for employees of the Public Works, Solid Waste, and Parks & Beautification Departments. Employees will gather for a Wellness Day at Lake Tobesofkee from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and will learn how to stay safe in the sun and heat, have field day activities, and be presented with awards.
All three departments will be closed on Thursday. Below are the changes to recycling and yard waste collections and hours at the landfill so that employees of the Solid Waste Department may participate and be recognized.
Walker Road Landfill
The Walker Road Landfill will be closed on Thursday, May 26, and will reopen on Friday, May 27 at 7:30 am.
Residential Recycling Collection
Residential recycling collection for Thursday, May 26, will happen on Friday, May 27. Collections for Friday will still happen on Friday. Residents are asked not remove their recycling bins until after 6:00 p.m. on Friday as collections may be later in the day than usual.
Residential Yard Waste Collection
Residential yard waste collection for Thursday May 26, 2016 will be collected on Wednesday May 25 and Friday May 27. Residents with Thursday collection are asked to put yard waste on the curb by Tuesday night.
