On Saturday, May 21, 2016, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission – along with the NAACP, Macon Water Authority Board Member Dwight Jones, and other officials – will sponsor a breakfast supporting Macon-Bibb public works employees as part of National Public Works Week. This includes employees from the Public Works, Solid Waste, and Parks & Beautification Departments. The breakfast will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Buck Melton Community Center (150 Sessions Drive) and is open to all employees in those departments.

The Macon-Bibb County Commission also recognized these departments at its meeting with a proclamation proclaiming it National Public Works Week in the county and asking that all people “recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.” More than a dozen employees were on hand to be recognized and receive the proclamations.
