Tax Day will always be a celebration for the Dvorak family, who welcomed a 21 inch, 8 lb 10 oz. baby boy today. The family not only received its newest tax deduction with the birth of Baby Boy Dvorak, but as the first “Tax Day” baby born at The Medical Center, Navicent Health, the Dvoraks were also awarded $1,529 for Baby Boy Dvorak’s Path2College 529 Plan college savings account.
“This is such a nice welcome into the world, a generous welcome. It is a really wonderful surprise. We’ve had two big surprises today! This is a wonderful start - it’s really nice to have a start on his education,” said mother Jacqueline Kennedy-Dvorak.
The Path2College 529 Plan has partnered with three hospitals in Georgia to celebrate “Tax Day” babies and to help raise awareness about the importance of saving for college and financial planning. Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah and The Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon are each awarding the first “Tax Day” baby with a college savings contribution. This is the first Tax Day Baby celebration at Navicent Health.
“We are thrilled to welcome little Baby Boy Dvorak to the world by investing in his education. I personally believe that education is vital to an individual’s success, and as an organization, Navicent Health promotes the education and continued learning of each employee. We are pleased to partner with Path2College to navigate Baby Boy Dvorak towards a path to success,” said Dr. Ninfa M. Saunders, President and CEO of Navicent Health.
In addition to recognizing the first “Tax Day” baby, the Path2College 529 Plan also kicked-off the statewide 2016 Newborn Sweepstakes, where Georgia families who have a baby this year can enter for a chance to win a $5,529 contribution toward a child’s or grandchild’s college savings. The Path2College 529 Plan will also award $1,529 to the hospital where the Newborn Sweepstakes winner was born.
“Tax time is typically when families are thinking about their financial situations, planning for the future and looking for ways to maximize their tax opportunities,” said Mitch Seabaugh, executive director of the Path2College 529 Plan. “Our goal is to reach these parents and grandparents and make sure they know about the state’s plan, its tax advantages and the importance of creating a financial plan to help with the future cost of their children’s education related expenses.”
Parents, grandparents and guardians of Georgia babies born in 2016 may go to www.Path2College529.com until April 14, 2017, for official rules, prize details and to enter for a chance to win the 2016 Newborn Sweepstakes. Entrants must be legal residents or taxpayers to Georgia and at least 18 years of age to enter. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Sponsored by the Path2College 529 Plan.
This is the sixth year Path2College 529 Plan has held its Newborn Sweepstakes. The 2011, 2013 and 2014 winners were born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta and the 2012 winner was born at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. The 2015 winner will be announced soon.
