Macon RBI Seeking Donations to Fund New Season

Macon RBI will officially launch their 2016 season Saturday, April 9th at Tom Fontaine Park and has begun soliciting donations from the community.
 
“This year we have approximately 100 more kids taking part in the RBI program,” stated Jeff Battcher Macon RBI Commissioner.  “Last year there was approximately 225 kids and this year we've got 325. So there's a great need for equipment.”    
 
In addition to soliciting corporate sponsorships, Macon RBI has started a crowdfunding site where individuals can text RBI to 717-77 to donate or visitwww.unitedwaycg.org to donate online.  Plus, United Way of Central Georgia has agreed to match the first $10,000 raised.   

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities is a youth outreach program operated by Major League. It is designed to:

· Increase participation and interest in baseball and softball

· Encourage academic participation and achievement number of talented athletes prepared to play in college and minor leagues

· Promote greater inclusion of minorities into the mainstream of the game

· Teach the value of teamwork

The RBI program has provided a path for many players to enter the college and professional game.  More than 200 RBI participants have been drafted by MLB Clubs throughout the program’s 26-year history, and many others were given the opportunity for higher education through baseball and softball scholarships. There have been nearly 40 RBI players selected in the 2012-2014 MLB Drafts.
